Officer Entry vs Enrolled Entry
| Commissioned officer | Enrolled personnel |
|---|---|
| NDA and Naval Academy via UPSC Army Technical Entry Scheme (TES) Navy 10+2 B.Tech Cadet Entry AFMC MBBS as medical officer Degree plus commission as Lieutenant / Sub-Lieutenant / Flying Officer |
Coast Guard Navik (GD / DB) Agniveer in Army, Navy and Air Force No degree; paid training and salary Class 10 or Class 12 entry |
Common thread
NDA, TES and Navy use a 5-day SSB; AFMC has its own screening; all need medical fitness and unmarried status.
Officer routes combine a degree with a commission; enrolled routes lead to rank-and-file careers with promotion paths. Marital status, medical standards and age windows are strict in every scheme. Four officer-level routes (NDA, TES, Navy 10+2 B.Tech, AFMC) and one enrolled route (Coast Guard Navik) are the core of this guide; Agniveer (enrolled entry in the three services) is added for completeness.
2
