CBSE Board Examination 2026 – Important Instructions for Students

The important instructions and guidelines to be strictly followed during the forthcoming CBSE Board Examinations 2026.

1. COMPULSORY FRISKING

All students will be subjected to extensive and compulsory physical frisking before entering the Examination Centre.


2. PERMITTED ITEMS

Students are allowed to carry only the following items:

For Regular Students:

  • Admit Card & School Identity Card

For Private Students:

  • Admit Card & Any Government-Issued Photo Identity Proof

Other Permitted Items:

  • Stationery items in a transparent pouch
    (Blue/Royal Blue Ink/Ballpoint/Gel Pen, Scale, Writing Pad, Eraser)
  • Analogue Watch
  • Transparent Water Bottle
  • Metro Card / Bus Pass / Money
  • Items permitted to Type I diabetic students

3. BARRED ITEMS

Students must not carry any of the following items:

(A) Stationery & Study Material:

  • Any textual material (printed or written)
  • Bits of paper
  • Pen drives
  • Electronic pen/scanner
  • Any other unauthorised material

(B) Communication Devices:

  • Mobile phones
  • Bluetooth devices
  • Earphones
  • Microphones
  • Pager
  • Health band
  • Smart watch
  • Camera
  • Any electronic gadget

(C) Other Items:

  • Wallet
  • Goggles
  • Handbags
  • Pouches
  • Any eatable item (opened or packed), except for diabetic students
  • Any other item that could be used for unfair means

Possession or use of barred items will be treated under the “Unfair Means (U.F.M.)” category and will attract strict punishment as per CBSE rules.


4. DRESS CODE

  • Regular Students: Proper school uniform with decent slippers. Avoid wearing shoes.
  • Private Students: Light clothes

5. TIMINGS & ENTRY RULES

  • Entry to the Examination Centre: 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM
  • No entry will be allowed after 10:00 AM under any circumstances.
  • Examination room doors will open at 9:45 AM.
  • Students must be seated 30 minutes before commencement.
  • Entry after 10:00 AM will render admission invalid for that paper.

6. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Bring your own pen, pencil, and ink (only Blue/Black/Royal Blue allowed).
  2. Ensure you are not carrying any prohibited item.
  3. Occupy only the seat marked with your Roll Number.
  4. Do not leave your seat or hall without permission.
  5. Do not speak without permission; if required, stand and seek assistance.
  6. Write:
    • Subject and Question Paper Code on the Title Sheet.
    • Roll Number only in the space provided (nowhere else).
    • Roll Number on the Question Paper and Supplementary Answer Book slip.
  7. Write on both sides of the answer book.
  8. Do not tear any page from the answer book.
  9. Do not write Roll Number or make any mark elsewhere in the answer book.
  10. Hand over the answer book immediately when time expires.
  11. Smoking or use of intoxicants is strictly prohibited.
  12. Students may be searched before or during examination.
  13. Missing/torn pages must be immediately reported.
  14. Supplementary answer sheet shall be issued only after filling the main answer book.
  15. Students may visit the centre prior to examination date.

7. HOW TO FILL OMR SHEET

  • Students must fill details neatly and accurately as per Admit Card.
  • LEFT SIDE OF OMR SHEET – Students Must Write:
  • Subject Name
    (Example: English Core)
  • Subject Code
    (Example: 301 / 041 / etc.)
  • Day and Date of Examination
    (Example: Monday, 17 February 2025)
  • Medium of Answer
    (English / Hindi – whichever applicable)
  • Question Paper Code / Set Number
    (As printed on top of Question Paper)
  • Number of Supplementary Answer Books used
    (Write after receiving supplementary; If no supplementary answer book used – Write ‘NIL’)
  • For Children with Special Needs (If Applicable)
  • They must:
  • Tick correct disability category.
  • Mention whether writer/scribe provided.
  • If visually challenged – write software name used (if applicable).
  • RIGHT SIDE OF OMR SHEET – Students Must:
  • 1. Write Student’s Name in CAPITAL LETTERS
  • One letter per box.
  • Leave one blank box between name parts.
  • Only first 24 characters if name is longer.
  • 2. Write and Darken Bubbles Properly for:
  • Roll Number
  • Subject Code
  • Centre Number
  • School Number
  • Roll Number in Words
  • Father’s / Guardian’s Name
  • Signature of Student

8. EXAMINATION DAY SCHEDULE (FOR DISPLAY IN EXAM ROOMS)

9. IMPORTANT REMINDERS

  • Use of white/correcting fluid is strictly prohibited.
  • Do not write Name/Roll No./any sign outside the specified space.
  • Check question paper pages immediately.
  • Supplementary sheets must be securely tied with white tag/twine provided by the centre.
  • After the examination, submit the answer sheet and take only the Question Paper with you.

10. UNFAIR MEANS (U.F.M.)

A student will be deemed to have used unfair means if found indulging in any of the following:

  • Possession of prohibited items
  • Impersonation
  • Assisting or receiving assistance
  • Writing on unauthorised material
  • Tearing answer book pages
  • Communicating with anyone other than exam staff
  • Taking answer book outside hall
  • Smuggling question paper/answer sheets
  • Threatening officials/students
  • Using electronic devices
  • Uploading/sharing exam material on social media
  • Using fabricated photograph on admit card
  • Altering printed information
  • Providing false information
  • Possessing previous years’ question papers
  • Attempting to influence CBSE through false information
  • Forceful entry/exit
  • Any other undesirable method

Consequences:

  • Cancellation of examination for the year
  • Debarment up to 5 years
  • Permanent debarment in serious cases

All students are instructed to strictly adhere to these guidelines. Non-compliance will invite disciplinary action as per CBSE rules.
